The ADISQ gala is the single most important event for Quebec music, but few among its 3 million television viewers will be anglophones. While it's understandable that anglo baby boomers living in the western extremities of Montreal may have little affinity for francophone music, there seems to be little excuse for totally bilingual 20- and 30-somethings - who often pride themselves for indulging in "world music" - to ignore French-speaking artists. After all, if you like Radiohead, chances are you'd be interested in Karkwa, a daring and musically sophisticated quintet that captured a Félix award last week for best alternative album (Le volume du vent).
