Next up were another batch of Polaris short listers in Karkwa, the Montreal five-piece who, despite their francophone tunes, charmed and impressed their Torontonian audience by commanding attention with their sincerity, enthusiasm and genuine talent.

While they performed only a handful of songs (here's hoping their trek from Quebec wasn't solely for their appearance), each was delivered with the earnestness of a band deserving of nominations and accolades, adding to both their credibility and general likeability as people and musicians.
