All 10 Polaris Music Prize short listers will be on hand to perform at the prize's Sept. 20 gala at Toronto's Masonic Temple, at which the winner of the prestigious $20,000 prize will be announced.
The gala, which will feature live tunes from The Besnard Lakes, Broken Social Scene, Caribou, Karkwa, Dan Mangan, Owen Pallett, Radio Radio, The Sadies, Shad and Tegan And Sara, will be broadcast live on MuchMusic.com and SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 86 and re-aired on MuchMusic five days later.
CBC Radio 3's Grant Lawrence and MuchMusic's Sarah Taylor will once again co-host the event, and CHARTattack's own Aaron Brophy will be one of the presenters, along with MTV Canada's Johnny Hockin, The Globe And Mail's Carl Wilson and 102.1 The Edge's Alan Cross.
Fans can enter a VIP trip for two to attend the gala through the Sirius website from now until Aug. 31. It includes return airfare, three-nights hotel accommodations, $500 spending money, two tickets to the gala, a meet-and-greet with their favourite Polaris short lister and a Sportster 5 radio with a year's subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
