Polaris Prize : Do you think Karkwa will get it?

It’s time to spice things up in a French way here at Download of the Week. And there’s not much of a better way to do such than with Karkwa’s “Marie Tu Pleures.” Hurry up and get this track, because it’s with us until August 15.

“Marie Tu Pleures” is off the Montreal indie rock band’s Polaris Prize shortlisted album, Les Chemins De Verre. The beautiful harmonies and soft guitars were recorded in just one take from an old house, leaving you reeling with a warmth that feels like it’s been with you forever. Sure, some of us don’t know what they’re saying, let’s be honest. But this kind of song needs no words for the lasting effect.

Remember, the Polaris Prize will be awarded on September 20 at a Gala in Toronto. Do you think Karkwa will get it?
