Every year, Canadian music blog i(heart)music polls a selection of journalists and bloggers from across the country to vote for its "Hottest Bands in Canada" feature. What makes an act "hot" is left up to the voter's discretion, so the only real stipulation is that the artist is Canadian. For the 2010 instalment, the jury cast their votes and picked Arcade Fire as the hottest band in the country.
Arcade Fire's spot atop the list shouldn't come as too much of a surprise -- after all, they recently released their acclaimed The Suburbs LP and reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. According to i(heart)music's Matthew Pollesel, Arcade Fire doubled the point total of the runner-up.
The list includes a total of 33 artists. Rounding out the top five were (current Exclaim! cover star) Diamond Rings (No. 2), Polaris winners Karkwa (No. 3), Broken Social Scene (No. 4) and Shad (No. 5). The list also includes up-and-coming acts like Apollo Ghosts, Hooded Fang and Maylee Todd.

For the purposes of full discloser, several Exclaim! contributers voted in the poll.
