Karkwa live in WinnipegRecorded: Sep. 29, 2011Venue: West End Cultural Centre, Winnipeg, MB
Karkwa have been together for 13 years and, in that time, racked up a long list of awards for their ambient indie rock sound. They've won numerous Felix Awards in Quebec and in 2010 won the prestigious Polaris Prize for Best Canadian Album for their fourth CD called "Les Chemins de verre."
This past September, CBC Radio 2 caught up with them at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg. It was the final date of their first western Canadian tour and the band was impressed with how many francophones there were in the audience. It was the first time on the tour they could speak freely in French and be understood. The audience was also familiar with their music and responded with excitement and passion.
