Jim Corcoran, host of CBC’s A Propos, is one of Quebec's best-loved songwriters, and a gifted translator who has taken on some of the most surprising lyrics in French music. Over the years, Corcoran has translated more than 125 songs for his CBC listeners on Radio One and Radio 2.
This week, we feature a song by one of Quebec’s best bands, Karkwa.
When Karkwa won the Polaris prize in 2010, it was the first time a Francophone band was celebrated coast to coast. The band’s last two albums won Juno awards and many Felix awards in Quebec. Karkwa has become Quebec’s most critically acclaimed band, and has just finished a successful world tour.
Hear Corcoran’s translation of the song “Marie tu pleures” from Karkwa’s award-winning album Les chemins de verre
